Camellia sasanqua. The winter flowering Camellia

Camellia sasanqua. The winter flowering Camellia

In the autumn and winter months, Camellia sasanqua do their thing.

Camellia sasanqua flower from late autumn, through the winter, all the way up until the spring when the Camellia japonica then take over.

Both the leaf and flowers on the Camellia sasanqua are smaller than those on a Camellia japonica.

The flowers are fragrant and have a subtle almost Earl Grey tea scent. The sasanqua do not lose their buds as some japonica types do and can be trained against a fence or panel.

Require a sunny spot sheltered from the wind and cold.
