Chimonanthus Wintersweet

Chimonanthus Wintersweet

Is there anything as sweet in winter as Wintersweet? Pale yellow flowers with a distinctive sweet scent in the winter months when spring seems so far away.

Flowering on bare stems the small, delicate pale yellow flowers have a touch of maroon on their interior petals and really raise the spirits on cold winter days.  The scent pulls you in.  At any other time of the year you could easily pass Chimonanthus praecox by with not a  second glance but in the winter the precious scent just makes you stop and appreciate around you.

They lend themselves well to almost any planting scheme and like a well-drained soil in a sunny position where it can reach 3m x 3m.

A real must have plant for winter interest.
