National Tree Week. A Touch of the Unusual. The Spotlight is on Unusual.

Today we turn the spotlight on unusual trees with unusual foliage colour.

They do not come any more unusual in colour than Toona sinensis Flamingo.  This is a Marmite plant that seems to either receive coos of delight or turned up noses.  Known as the Chinese Mahogany, Toona has colour from spring to autumn in a kaleidoscope of colours.  In spring the foliage emerges salmon pink in colour, changing to a pale creamy-yellow before changing to green in the summer.  In the autumn months the foliage becomes yellow before dropping. Toona has an upright habit with a columnar crown.  It is a really unusual tree.

Albizia jul Summer Chocolate is the opposite in stature to a Toona.  It has a graceful spreading habit with rich chocolate coloured fern-like feathery foliage.   The fluffy pink flowers have prominent stamens and are freely produced in the summer.  Known as the Silk Tree,  Albizia jul Summer Chocolate is a colourful, exotic looking addition to a sunny garden.  Great for coastal conditions and Mediterranean style gardens.

Again, all in stock on the tree field.  Over 3000 trees to choose from.
