Cercis candensis Alley Cat

Cercis candensis Alley Cat

Cercis candensis Alley Cat

Originally found growing in an alley in Kentucky USA – hence the name!  This new introduction has irregular white splashed / streaked variegated leaves.  Dark pink pea-like flowers are freely produced in April / May before the leaves appear.  The new leaves emerge coppery pink and light green and mature to the interesting splashed foliage that is held all summer long.

It is an ideal choice for a small garden reaching 5m in height.
