Butia capitata is one the cold hardiest in the Butia options. Hailing from Brazil the frond-like, grey-green leaves have a hue of blue to them. Each leaf can reach up to 2m in length and curls back on themselves almost reaching the floor and giving a wonderful overall shape to the plants. The trunk itself is stout and robust.
Requiring full sun and not fussy about soil but adores good drainage Butia capitata is perfect for raised beds, gravel gardens, pots, coastal, Mediterranean and tropical planting.
It is slow growing and will reach a max height of around 2.5m stem height with around 2m spread but will take time to get there. Shelter from cold winds
