Agapanthus Growing Tips: Feed, Soil & Position for Spectacular Summer Displays

Want your Agapanthus to thrive and produce masses of beautiful blooms? Getting the basics right makes all the difference.

Position
Agapanthus love a warm, sunny spot. The more sunshine they receive, the better the flowering display. They are ideal for sunny borders, gravel gardens, and containers where they can bask in full sun.

Soil
Well-drained soil is essential. Agapanthus dislike sitting in winter wet, so improve heavier soils with grit or organic matter to enhance drainage. In containers, use a good quality loam-based compost with added drainage material.

Feeding
Feed regularly during the growing season to encourage strong growth and abundant flowers. A balanced fertiliser in spring followed by a high-potash feed as flower buds develop will help support a long-lasting summer display.

Container Growing
Agapanthus perform exceptionally well in pots and often flower best when slightly root restricted, making them a fantastic choice for patios and terraces.

With the right care, these architectural beauties will reward gardeners with stunning globes of colour year after year, making them a favourite for both retail customers and landscape projects alike.

Strong, healthy Agapanthus available in a wide range of varieties and pot sizes for trade customers.
