Around seven years ago, we introduced two new Laurus nobilis varieties to our Bay Tree range — and they’ve proved to be extremely popular ever since.
When welcoming new customers or student groups on site, these are always plants we like to shine the Spotlight On.
Lovely-Leaved Laurus
Both introductions offer dense foliage coverage, yet each has a distinct look:
- Laurus nobilis ‘Angustifolia’
Features long, willowy leaves with gently waved edges, creating a softer aesthetic. This variety has a denser habit than standard Laurus nobilis and has proven to be slightly more hardy, according to growers. - Laurus nobilis ‘Bay Junior’
Compact, dense, and slower growing — ideal for topiary standards and balls. Less pruning required, making it a practical and attractive choice.
It Doesn’t Stop There
Thanks to their tight growth and dense foliage, both varieties are also available as topiary balls and cones:
- Balls: 40cm–60cm diameter
- Cones: 100cm–200cm heights available on site
