Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week

For Mental Health Awareness Week 2024, 13th May to 19th May, our team at Provender Nurseries will be monitoring our step count each day to raise money for a local charity, Swanley’s Shed

The theme for this years’ Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health.’

We all know that movement is good for you both physically and mentally. A good walk, a day in the garden, a session at the gym can improve your mood and trigger the release of feel good hormones.

For the duration of the week, we will be measuring our steps on site in two teams and we’ll be encouraging as many of our team to get involved on the nursery, at the till, in the offices and polytunnels.

It’s for fun, to improve mental health, to get us all moving and to raise money for charity.

So, if you want to reward our efforts and raise some funds for Swanley’s Shed at the same time, please pop some money in the collection boxes at the till.

Swanley’s Shed

Launched in January 2023 in Swanley Park, Swanley’s Shed aims to connect people with others in a group, as an individual to maintain mental and physical health and combat loneliness.

Members can learn new skills or share their own skills with others. Woodworking, gardening, sewing and making bird boxes are amongst some of the activities the Swanley’s Shed members enjoy together each week.

Provender Nurseries support Swanley’s Shed by helping to raise money for valuable funds for materials, workshops and to keep this excellent asset to the local community thriving.
