Provender Nurseries donates plants and planting team to new NHS garden at Sevenoaks Hospital devoted to memory of NHS nurse.

Friday, 19th August saw Gloria Hunniford open the new garden at Sevenoaks Community Hospital Garden in memory of long-term serving NHS nurse, Susan Hamilton-Rigby at Sevenoaks Community Hospital Garden.

Together with representatives from Provender Nurseries, Allium Designs, colleagues of Susan Hamilton-Rigby and volunteers associated with the hospital, Gloria Hunniford unveiled a memorial plaque to commemorate the opening of the garden.

The garden was created by the collaborative work of Provender Nurseries, Allium Designs, Sevenoaks Hospital League of Friends, The Sevenoaks Lion Club and other volunteers resulting in a healing green space for patients, staff and visitors to enjoy and spend time together.

Providing plants, soil and bark alongside three members of staff, Provender Nurseries worked alongside Allium Designs, owned by David Stead, a long-term customer of Provender Nurseries.

Richard McKenna said: ‘It’s a real privilege to be involved and build a garden that provides a calming space in which visitors and patients can spend time together outside which is good for mental wellbeing. Most importantly, it is great to be able to give something back to the NHS right on our doorstep.’
