Much to do with Mahonia

You will find around 70 types of Mahonia all around the world and you will find the best 11 on site at Provender Nurseries now.

Typically grown for their attractive dark green foliage and winter scented flowers. The flowers are yellow in colour, highly scented and with some varieties open from orange-red buds.

Mahonia can be planted in the back of border but may need a large space to really showcase its beauty. Planting perennials and spring flowering bulbs near Mahonia will enhance the winter display.

Some varieties we have on site are:

Mahonia nitens ‘Cabaret’ – compact slow growing evergreen shrub. The flowers are held on upright racemes and are bright orange-red in bud, opening to yellow flowers in late summer.  The leaves are glossy and spiny.

Mahonia eurybracteata ‘Sweet Winter’ – Fragrant, yellow flowers in autumn. An evergreen shrub with smooth foliage. Plant in moist but well-drained soil.

Mahonia eurybracteata ‘Soft Caress’ - Bright yellow fragrant flowers in late autumn onwards. Compact mound forming evergreen shrub. The leaves have long lance shaped leaflets. Plant of the year Chelsea Flower Show 2013
