Vinca minor 'Atropurpurea'
Description: The flowers are the main attraction of this periwinkle. They are a deep plum-puple, starry shape as with the other perwinkle flowers. Ideal plant to cover the ground any situation. Flowers are produced over a long period from spring to autumn, and the glossy, green leaves wil provide a backdrop throughout the year. Very versatile for ground cover and for edging pots and containers as they will trail over the sides. Suited for many sites and soils.
Climate/Position: Sun or shade but will flower more profusely if given some sun.
Height/Spread: 20cm x150cm.
Soil Requirements: Any soil tolerated, prefers some moisture but will also tolerate periods of dry conditions.
Pruning: None required though tidying up of extension growth may be done in early spring. Cut back hard to contain the spreading plant.
