Prunus 'Kanzan'

Description: A very popular old favourite with a profusion of large vivid pink double flowers in pendulous clusters in spring providing a real show. A strong growing tree of distinctive open vase shaped habit. The stiff ascending habit of young trees develops into an open upright shape. Young bronze coppery foliage as flowers fade and good autumn colour for additional interest.

Uses: Very effective if used for avenue planting . Can be planted as a specimen tree in Lawns.

Climate/Position: Open sunny position prefered to ensure best shape and flowering..

Height/Spread: 10 x 8 metres

Soil Requirements: Tolerant of most well drained soils including lime/chalky soils.

Pruning: No pruning necessary except shaping young trees or removal of crossing branches. In older trees dead branches may be removed. Prune in mid summer after flowering. Pruning in late summer to remove silver leaf if there is any visable on the plant.
