Prunus 'Chocolate Ice'

Description: A small upright tree which in spring is eye catching with clusters of large single, blush white flowers which stand out against the unusual new leaves which are lovely deep chocolate-brown. A very pretty combination and especially lovely when seen against a blue spring sky.

Uses: The habit is upright in the early years spreading as it ages and so the plant is suitable for smaller areas where space is limited as well as parks and urban situations.

Climate/Position: Open sunny position prefered to ensure best shape and flowering..

Height/Spread: 6 x 6 metres

Soil Requirements: Tolerant of most well drained soils including lime/chalky soils.

Pruning: No pruning necessary except shaping young trees or removal of crossing branches. In older trees dead branches may be removed. Prune in mid summer after flowering.
