Prunus avium 'Plena'

Description: A double form of our native wild cherry. In spring it is a fabulous site with a profusion of double pure white, long lasting flowers in large clusters which cover the branches. The leaves are dark green and turn rich, vibrant red in autumn.

Uses: Larger than many cherries so ensure adequate space is given for best display. Lawn specimens, park use avenues or urban planting are all suited.

Climate/Position: Open sunny position prefered to ensure best shape and flowering..

Height/Spread: 12 x 12 metres

Soil Requirements: Tolerant of most well drained soils including lime/chalky soils.

Pruning: No pruning necessary except shaping young trees or removal of crossing branches. In older trees dead branches may be removed. Prune in mid summer after flowering.
