Prunus 'Accolade'
Description: A superb small tree with graceful open and spreading habit. A profusion of light pink semi double flowers in pendulous clusters in mid May A well proven and popular cherry for great spring colour and the leaves turn shades of orange in autumn giving additional interest.
Uses: Good for the smaller garden, as a street tree and for planting in parks.
Climate/Position: Open sunny position prefered to ensure best shape and flowering..
Height/Spread: 8 x 8 metres
Soil Requirements: Tolerant of most well drained soils including lime/chalky soils.
Pruning: No pruning necessary except shaping young trees or removal of crossing branches. In older trees dead branches may be removed. Prune in mid summer after flowering.
Special Requirements:
Additional Interest: A hybrid between P. sargentii × P. subhirtella. With best features of both parents and well deserved 'Accolade'! winning awards as early as 1954
