Primula vialii

Description:  A well known primula due to its distinctive colouring. The rosettes of leaves are in May base for flowers of purple and red which are very distinctive and always a pleasure to see.  Each flower stalk is topped with a red central core and mauve flowers emerge from the lower part giving a most unusual and striking combination. For best effect plant in groups for a real show.

Uses: Ideally use in wetter soils by water or suited to woodland setting.

Climate/Position: Partial shade in moist location.

Height/Spread: 50cm x 30cm spread

Soil Requirements: Acidic soils prefered which are rich and moisture retentive.

Pruning: Remove flower stalks after flowering.
