Parthenocissus tricuspidata 'Green Spring'

Description: Rich green leaves throughout summer. Each leaf has three points hence the speciaed name 'tri -cuspidata' or litterally three points.  A vigorous self clinging climber that has suction pads along stems whch allow it to hold firmly onto walls and is therefore ideal as a climber on larger buildings.

Uses: Large wall areas or large structures such as pergolas which must be strong to hold the plant.  Also suited to growing up trees.

Climate/Position: Any site.  Sunnier sites provide better colour.

Height/Spread: Up to 30 metres tall if space and host location allows

Soil Requirements: Suited to any soil

Pruning: Generally little pruning required but remove the long vines if becoming overgrown.

Special Requirements: 

Additional Interest: Though this is known as the Boston Ivy the species is infact Asian in origin which is somewhat confusing.  Its name was apparantly given to the plant when it was commonly used to cover larger buildings in Boston, USA.
