Papaver nudicaule Champagne Bubbles

Papaver nudicaule Champagne Bubbles

Description:

Provides a real splash of colour when planted in drifts for best effect. This dwarf strain features a wide range of pastel shades and bi-colors of oranges, yellows, reds and white, with especially large fragrant satiny blooms on graceful stems for weeks from late spring.

Good for the front of a sunny borders and also in containers.

Climate/Position: Full sun to partial shade.

Height/Spread: 30-45 cm x 20-30cm.

Soil Requirements: Any free draining soil. Plants need excellent winter drainage - let soil dry out as they go dormant in late summer. Quite drought tolerant once established.

Pruning: Removing faded flowers will encourage more buds to form but do allow plants to set seed to spread the drift and self seeding prolongs the display of this short lived perennial.

Special Requirements: Excellent cut flowers if done before flowers open and ends of stems are seared with flame.
