Description:

Mostly noted for it autumn colour, this deciduous shrub also has scented white bottle-brush like flowers in spring as the leaves unfold. In the autumn the rounded, toothed leaves produce stunning rich shades of red, orange and yellow.

Climate/Position: Light shade or full sun

Height/Spread: 2.5 metres x 2 metres

Soil Requirements: Light moist neutral or lime free (ericaceous) soil prefered.

Pruning: Removal of damages branches only or for some shaping otherwise pruning to be avoided.

Special Requirements:

Introduced in1780 from the Allegheny Mountains USA which is part of the Appalachian range in Virginia.
