Daphne odora 'Mae-jima'
Description: A rounded and comapct shrub with large leaves produced around the stem like a rossete. The leaf edges are widely margined with soft creamy yellow making this an attactive and stronly variegated shrub. (more widely margined than D. o 'Aureomarginata') In spring the shrub produces clusters of dark carmine pink tubular flowers which have the beautiful scent as do all Daphne odora.
Uses: Good to plant near a pathway or door so that passers by will breath the beautiful scent which is a welcome cheer in late winter..
Climate/Position: Lightly shaded position preferred.
Height/Spread: 1.2metres x 1.2 metres
Soil Requirements: Fertile well drained soil with lower pH - slightly acidic.
Pruning: No pruning is required.
Special Requirements: Avoid moving when planted as the fleshy roots do not establish well after disturbance.
