Cotinus coggygria 'Lilla'

Description: A superb, new dwarf shrub of the similar and very popular Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple'. Compact, slow growing, small bushy shrub with oval, deep purple leaves, turning gorgeous shades of red, orange and yellow in the autumn. Masses of pale pink, plume-like flowers from July to August that give a smoke like effect.

Uses: Cottage gardens, cut flower garden or as a specimen plant. Makes a strong impact in a sunny border.

Climate/Position: Full sun to partial shade.

Height/Spread: 1.2m x 1.2m

Soil Requirements: Well-drained, moderately fertile, moist soil. The more acidic your soil is the more vibrant colours you will get.

Pruning: Remove unwanted branches in spring.

Special Requirements: Easy to grow though prefers to be planted in full sun. Add good compost when planting and mulch in the autumn. This variety withstands dry summer spells better than many other varieties.

Additional Interest: Plant Breeders Rights apply (PBR). Cotinus coggygria 'Lilla' is a novelty that was first introduced at the Plantarium exhibition in Holland in 2011 where it received bronze medal. Cotinus comes from the Greek for wild olive, kotinus.
