Clematis x triternata 'Rubromarginata'

Clematis x triternata 'Rubromarginata'

Description:

Quick growing climber producing a mass of small scented flowers, white with, rosy-purple edging and veinal markings from July to September. This vigorous, late flowering clematis is useful for scrambling over a tree or garden wall, pergola, arch in either sun or shade.

Climate/Position: Full sun or partial shade

Height/Spread: Eventual height 5 metres x 2 metres.

Soil Requirements: Fertile, well-drained, neutral soil

Pruning: Prune in March April. Cut back hard to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm above ground-level. Apply a mulch of compost around the plant and ideally a slow-release balanced fertiliser.

Special Requirements:

As the late flowered varieties are cut to the ground in spring, this variety is useful for training into shrubs, trees and climbing roses as the clematis growth is removed each spring and so never becomes too much of a burden on its supporting plant.
