Callistemon citrinus 'Red Clusters'
Description: An evergreen, rounded shrub noted for its masses of bottlebrush like clusters of red flowers in cylinidrical spikes throughout the summer. The floweres are infact long stamens and not petals. The new shoots have a pink tinge turning to rich dark green lance-shaped leaves. Looks great in containers and hot or mediterranean style gardens. A valuable low maintenance shrub with a long flowering period.
Climate / Position: Prefers full sun in a sheltered spot.
Height / Spread: 2 metres x 2 metres
Soil Requirements: Well drained neutral to acid fertile soil. Not suitable for shallow chalky soils
Pruning: None required but can be pruned lightly after flowering to maintian shapes. Can tolerate hard pruning if needed as growth sometimes becomes very straggly..
