Acacia pravissima
Description: An evergreen shrub to small tree that looks fantastic in a smaller garden. This Acacia has a pendulous habit with the branches covered in unusual grey-green foliage which are in fact flattened leaves (Phyllodes). During late winter to early spring pleasantly fragrant, globular yellow flowers are borne.
Uses: Tolerates drought situations and is great for coastal gardens. Tolerant of full sun and sandy soils. Adapted to nutrient poor soils. Also deer tolerant.
Climate/ Position: This Acacia can withstand frost conditions (down to -1C) but is not fully hardy. Frost hardiness increases with age. Grow in full sun and shelter from prevailing winds.
Height / Spread: Moderate to fast growing to 3m up to 8m, spreading to 1 or 2m.
Soil Requirements: Well drained soils. Drought tolerant.
Pruning: Prune lightly after flowering.
Special Requirements: Ensure free draining and protected as noted above
