Short description

Chelsea Flower Show 2021 Plant of the Year Unique foliage colour with glossy red heart-shaped leaves that slowly transform to fiery orange to yellow along the stem creating an illusion of flame. The changing leaf colour along the stems enhances the attractiveness creating a visual feast. In the spring small dark pink flowers are produced on bare stems and branches before the foliage emerges. The flowers emerge in April with the foliage emerging from May onwards continuing with the colourful graduated display along the branches until the autumn. Cercis x canadensis Eternal Flame will grow to a very reasonable size of 3-4m and can be utilised as a small tree or multi-stemmed shrub in the ground or in a container. Water well until established. Best foliage colour is achieved in full sun and a well drained soil.
