Helleborus Pink Frost
Helleborus Pink Frost buds
Helleborus Ice N Roses White
One of the most popular plants at this time of year and in fact all year round is Helleborus. Flowering in the coldest of weather with bright flowers and often interesting foliage, Hellebores can provide interest not just in the winter months but for a good 6 months of the year too.
A herbaceous favourite many have evergreen leaves that are tough and leathery to look at but will persevere through the harshest frosts. Happy in dappled shade in either huge swathes or dotted about in the mixed borders Hellebores will give a welcoming nod to the end of the winter months.
Ranging in colour from pinks, purples through to speckled petals, light green and pure white there are some really delightful cultivars to choose from. Great for the front to middle of a border and in containers they are very versatile plants as long as they do receive a decent amount of shade during the day.
This is the time of year for Provender Nurseries to stock up on Hellebores (amongst many other plants too!) so keep an eye out for some delicious plants. In stock at the moment are:
