With such a profusion light pink buds that open to reveal white flowers in the spring it is no surprise that Malus carry an abundance of fruit in the autumn months. The fruit swell slowly over September and October reaching full colour and maturity in November. The fruit are red with an orange / yellow flush adding appeal to their appearance.
Perfect for the smaller garden Malus ‘John Downie’ has an upright habit that reaches 8m in total. The fruit are also excellent for making Crab Apple Jelly. They are an excellent choice for a multi-stem tree providing structure, spring colour and autumn interest.
